Chat & Chew is voluntary and encourages students to read and discuss designated books with other students facilitated by parent volunteers.
The Chat & Chew committee curates a library of age-appropriate books and loans them out to students one-by-one for the duration of the program.
One book will be assigned for each month, November through April. The appropriate book should be read prior to each month’s meeting. On each meeting day, students will bring their book, a sack lunch, and water to school. During their designated lunch period, students will meet in a classroom with their group and two parent volunteers to discuss the book while eating their lunch.

Chat & Chew FAQs
How do I sign my student up and/or volunteer? Simply complete the form below and click submit.
Can my child participate even if I can’t volunteer? Of course! Every child is welcome!
Why are two books listed for 2nd grade, but the description of A Taste of Chat & Chew says only one book is read? Based on the group’s interest, the students and leaders may choose which book to read and whether to read the second book or not.
Where will we get the books to read? PTA will provide the books. Students will be responsible for care and return.
Awesome! What do parent volunteers do?
