Graduation Fundraisers

It is tradition for each 5th grade class to raise money toward enrichment & graduation activities for their 6th grade year.  Historically, these fundraising activities have included the following:  proceeds from Entertainment Books, concessions (meals or refreshments) at PTA-sponsored events (such as dinner at Health & Science Fair or ice cream cast party at the Variety Show), pancake breakfasts, bake sales at events such as the Harvest Carnival or Spring Open House/Book Fair/Plant Sale, and the last-day-of-school picnic lunch.

Before the beginning of each school year, the 5th Grade Fundraising Committee will determine the fundraising opportunities.  Funds raised will help pay for the following activities:  a Halloween party in the gymnasium (mostly provided for by donations), a Valentine Party event offsite such as bowling or SkyZone (or this may be parent-pay field trip depending on budget), and graduation traditions such as t-shirts, breakfast, flowers, caps, and a celebration.  These activities may change year-to-year but will always be approved by the Principal and PTA President.

Some of the special field trips that coincide with the 6th Grade curriculum have included:  WWI Museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum, Union Station and Tall Oaks.  Parents will pay for their own student to attend field trips in the same manner as any other grade at Belinder.  However, the PTA will budget & pay for the traditional 6th Grade field trip to Tall Oaks (an all-day outdoor event).  The PTA will also cover the cost of any student who has a financial burden under the Scholarship Fund (using the same standards & procedures as all other field trips at Belinder).

So help all future 6th graders by participating in these FUNdraisers each year!
