Book Swaps

Belinder PTA facilitates two Book Swaps per year, the Spring one including a Chat & Chew Collection.
  • What is the Book Swap?  It’s a great event where kids (and parents!) can clean out their bookshelves & come home with “new” books.
  • Why do we collect Chat & Chew books? Because starting in 2017-18, we’re curating a Chat & Chew library to reduce the cost to our families! ** We REALLY, REALLY want to collect THIS year’s Chat & Chew Books to kickstart our collection.
So go through your shelves at home & bring in a book(s) you no longer want to keep and are willing to swap or donate to our Chat & Chew library. Parent volunteers will collect books & distribute tickets each morning before school starts in the school lobby. Dates to be published each semester on the Belinder PTA Calendar.
For every book you donate you receive 1 ticket (price/format doesn’t matter) and you can bring in as many books as you want.  Then on the day of the Book Swap, WITH PARENT PERMISSION, bring your tickets to the Belinder front lawn (rain location TBD) and peruse the tables and tables of available books, which will be arranged by age/reading level. Each “new” book will cost 1 ticket.
PARENTS OF MIDDLE SCHOOLERS!  In the past, we have had an over-abundance of books for K-3 (from the older elementary kids) but very little for the 4th-6th graders.  So, if your middle schooler wants to donate some age-appropriate books, that would be very welcome!
CAN YOU VOLUNTEER TO HELP? PLEASE! If you’re available to help collect books in the mornings leading up to the event, or the night of the Book Swap itself (set up, break down, etc.) click here for current swap slots.
This is a great event that gets kids excited about reading and books!  Any books left over after the swap will be donated or used for swap credit at Half Price Books for the Chat & Chew Library.
