So what’s this all about? Some members of your PTA thought it would be fun to have a Chili Cook-Off to get together as a community. This is not a fundraiser.
My daughter has an allergy—will there be an option for her? Hopefully! Chilies containing any of the top 9 food allergens will be noted at that table.
My son doesn’t like chili—will there be any other options? Not this year. We are keeping it simple. Maybe in the future, if all goes well we will be able to offer more than chili. Come anyway! We all know most of the kids will go run and play on the playground as soon as they arrive anyway.
Who are the judges? Who better to judge than a panel of big-eating experts: Shawnee Mission East football players! We have several coming to judge the chili.
When will I find out who won? Winners will be announced that evening at the General Membership Meeting at 7 pm. There will be an Official winner (as selected by the judges), a People’s Choice winner (as selected by the attendees of the event), and the first ever Spirit Award (best-decorated table, most festive attire etc).
Come early for the best selection—and make sure to stay for the General Membership meeting to see if your favorite chili won!
